It was either trying to say:

"Help! I'm stuck in a cheesy sci-fi plot from the '50's"
OR
"Only a man would design a metal bikini for a scorchingly hot desert planet".

OTOH, it is camp enough to MST3K quite well, especially with all the dialogue that could serve as oblique Stargate references to viewers in the know. :D
