Yes, and Carson was the character to do that, or Elizabeth, but I don't think the writers knew how to write someone with a moral center.

I don't think they anticipated Amanda being on the show until it was too late; sometimes her character felt very pasted on. Not really what Sam would have done or said, given her back story.

Sigh.
