What a bunch of twats!.....at least ours is stopped by the US hiatus...as soon as that's over then Sky One will resume showings.....but to stop it after 4 episodes????....loonies!!...
All of the programming on most of our channels is like this. they remove or shuffles shows around and don't tell anyone, then they bitch and moan when they get low ratings - no one knows wtf is going on. The programmers are insane. And they wonder why Australia has the highest number of illegal downloads!
I've only gotten into Supernatural recently, so I should go back and watch all the episodes (we have them on dvd, I am just lazy), I'm just pissed at the general state of programming on Australian television. Shows are given 2-3 weeks in order to start pulling in big numbers otherwise they're out the door. Every other night there's repeats of The Simpsons and NCIS, there's no good reason to remove first run shows for not rating high enough in the non ratings period and exspecially over the 2 weeks around Christmas when everyone is on holiday, travelling and spending time with their families.
White Collar finishes this week also, so I am now left with absolutely no original programming to watch. *sigh* (what was the point of all those new channels if they're just going to air old shows?)
Oh, I agree with all of that. Have given up TV for that exact reason. It's so unreliable it's just not worth it. Downloads and DVDs are the way to go! *nods*
White Collar.. Oh, I didn't know you watch that! :) Sucks it's finishing. Think it's getting a second season though, isn't it? I read a thing not too long ago with renewed shows and am fairly certain I read that.. *ponders*
Well I choose not to download and the dvd release dates are quite horrid compared with the US/UK etc.
I'm glad White Collar has recieved an order to season 2, but that doesn't help our predicament here, taking the show off after only 5 episodes. People will lose interest, and if they try to put them back on in the ratings period up against shows with a proven high rating then they will just suffer again and be removed from programming once more.
I'm guessing it is a hiatus of sorts and that it could possibly be back later in the year (which is pointless because the 1.1 dvds are out in February) But I have emailed the network for information so I can share on a forum I mod. I'm more of an SG-1 fan, SGA lost me in season 4 and I haven't seen enough of SGU to form a strong opinion other than it's a tad boring.
I'm more peeved about Supernatural because the new season is only 4-5 episodes in and getting really good.
Butbut, they showed the trailer for this week. Why would they take it off so suddenly. Just as I was starting to show signs of getting interested in the show too...
Fuck you Channel 10. Fuck you Australian free to air tv. :(
From what I understand having had a quick squiz at their forum is that ch 10 are blaming low ratings for the upheveal, but this is not confirmed. The ratings are down a fraction, but that is to be expected over the Chritmas break and it appears SGU was rating better than Supernatural - although that may be due to the timeslot.
I'm not surprised after what they did to The X Files, BSG and Torchwood.
I have sent an email equiring as to SGU and Supernatural's return, and I will post the reply for you all on Unarchived.
Ch 10 aren't the only ones to do this this week, all 3 main commerical networks have suddenly removed programs for no reason. I don't see a reason behind this, both shows held steady ratings, only dipping slightly over Christmas and I don't know one person who actually wants repeats of old movies on instead of first run programming.
More suitable timeslot, please. :P After what they've done to all their other sci fi, I'm surprised Supernatural stayed in prime time as long as it did.

Date: January 4th, 2010 03:00 pm (UTC)Now we are just going to get crappy monday movies in their place.
But apparently Channel ten are going to find 'more subtable' time slots for both shows. Knowing them it'll be 12am and 1am.
