We recently finished Season 1 of Dark Winds. I loved the visuals.

Also, it's exactly what I wished for in college when all the Native American Literature readings for the modern section were bleak and depressing. This has a valid representation of many problems facing tribes, but also how people fought oppression and the many cultural bits retained.

I think they have found a nice balance in portraying real world problems and connection to land and the spirit world. Season 1 was very obvious and I would say careful in this, but as the series develops, they are not playing to the limited understanding of the majority of viewers, but instead inviting you to learn in your own time to understand more nuanced narratives.

Witnessing family members watching the show with such emotion at seeing culture reflected back at them has meant a lot to me.
