I was at a self-esteem thing today and the presenter had us number a piece of paper from 1 to 20. Then she had us list 20 things we liked about ourselves. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? I don't think I lack self-confidence, normally. I think like most people, problems with confidence tend to come and go.

Then she was talking about doing things for yourself, like having your nails down and I was like, yeah, that's me, I just started back to having professional manicures. So I came away thinking I was pretty close to normal.

It's not a matter of self esteem, but just realising where my capabilities lie. Maybe I didn't word it that well. That 20 things thing does sound difficult though. And you're right, self confidence is not set at a fixed amount.

I've read a few fics inspired by that scene and everyone pretty much thinks it was baby-related. Either Vala and Daniel had lost a baby or had come to the realization that it was far too dangerous to have a baby under those circumstances.
My very favorite part is when Vala tries to pull away and Daniel won't let her...so heart-breaking.

I'm pretty sure in the commentary it was mentioned that the idea behind the scene was that they had lost a child through miscarriage.

I totally agree. I love seeing their interactions in particular and how they differ to the Daniel and Vala we would normally see.
