You know what really ticks me off is how the media (I don't know about the Australians but I'm talking about the Americans) constantly point out the fact that he was found naked. Who cares??? A young man with a bright future is dead and all they can talk about and speculate about is that he was naked. And of course, the pills. Until they get a definitive autopsy result, they should stop speculating. This is why I don't watch shows like "Entertainment Tonight" or buy the gossip rags. They revel in other folks' misery. Anyway, it's a damned shame. And he left a small child behind, which doubles the tragedy.
Wow. The media here has been very respectful. I've only seen his nakedness mentioned in a few online reports, nothing in the mainstream news. His family and community have been given space to grieve and everyone has been really supportive of them and haven't bothered them at all.
What I did find strange was the ambulance or whatever it was to take his body away was parked on the other side of the street. Should they not have moved the media away so they could show him as little as possible? Now that is really disrespectful.
I watched Entertainment Tonight yesterday to see what the American media was making of it, and it was pretty short really. Most of the show was banging on about Britany Spears again. I'll watch today's and look out for the things you've mentioned. The thing with the pills and such bugs me. Give him the benefit of the doubt I say.
Alot of our reporters have been getting a bit teary eyed over the whole thing. He was well known in the Aussie film industry before he made it in Hollywood.
Yeah, I thought the scene where they carried his body out to be completely without any type of respect. And who the hell called the media? It was all over the place before the cops even got there.
It could have been any one of the handful of people who knew what had happened before the paramedics were even called. The housekeeper apparently called one of the Olsen twins who in turn called 3 security guys over there before they even called an ambulance. You have to wonder what goes through some people's heads.
And I missed ET because they rescheduled it without notice because they aired the damn cricket. Shame, I wanted to see if RDA was in the birthdays too. :P
What pisses me off is how the papparazzi always try to drag people's names through shit. Ben Cousins? Chris Mainwaring? (which really hurt because he was my favourite footy player as long as I can remember) I hope that they don't do this to Heath Ledger because he was such a good actor. If they ever did that to any of my favourite actors I'd probably even stop watching TV altogether.
I guess it's a two way street with regard to drug abuse among the famous. On one hand, they are clearly taking them for a reason, whether it be the inability to cope with their lives or whatever, and on the other hand they are role models for alot of people in society, particularly young people and they should be 'leading' by example. Of course they never mean for this stuff to get out, but no one can be in control of stuff like that. I'm not going to comment on Heath's story until we get some definitive results.
I don't know Chris Mainwaring, but as for Ben Cousins, how many times has he been told to clean up his act? If he can't handle the game, he needs to get out of there and stop destroying the game, the team, and himself. There are alot of kids who still look up to him.
