The fantabulous
jdjunkie is holding a Jack/Daniel Four Seasons in One Thon starting Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th on Dreamwidth! The theme is Thursday = Spring, Friday = Summer, Saturday = Autumn/Fall & Sunday = Winter, but all J/D lovin' is welcome, slash, pre-slash, friendship, whatever you like!
So go write, meta, manip, draw stick figures, if you're moved to.
I am 3/4 through a little something (a very little something). I even watched Meridian *sniff* (it was in my rewatch anyway, but...)
All the info you need is here! <3

Date: April 21st, 2014 11:15 am (UTC)I still find it a tough watch, although, considering it was the first ep I watch live, not as tough as back then!

Date: April 21st, 2014 12:13 pm (UTC)I see Jonas in a somewhat different light now. As much as I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt etc back then, I hadn't fully realised until now that he was one of the people projecting the lie about Daniel's sabotage. Yes, he was in a tough position and Jack did get through to him, but I think in light of that, It would be hard to have him on SG-1.
And having just watched Redemption I tonight, it feels as though Jonas spends the first 10 minutes being a suck, using Daniel's memory to try to get to Sam, and using Teal'c to get to Jack. Maybe I am overthinking it, I am unsure. And giving Daniel's lab to Jonas (which is it unclear if he us using it as his own in this episode, or just studying Daniel's work, though he does use it from then on), seems a little overt. I mean, I know they wouldn't keep it as a shrine or anything, but to 'replace' him in such a fashion seems off. Of course they would have to build more set or something if Jonas had another room, but I wonder at the idea of just having that lab empty, I don't know. I'm rambling. :P

Date: April 21st, 2014 02:06 pm (UTC)Your views on Jonas mirror mine. TPTB just didn't think it through. First off, Daniel's replacement was a part of his death story. Not only that, he condemned himself out of his own mouth "Even if I could ..." (which means he wouldn't) have told the truth and exonerated Daniel in the eyes of his superiors.
Then, they gave him Daniel's lab. Filled with Daniel's things. A constant reminder to us, the fans, of what we'd lost, and why we'd lost him (and that's meta, too). Then, they write Sam inconsistently, firstly telling Jonas he'd never be a part of the team, then, only short while later, telling him he was doing great etc etc. Because they had to tell US he was doing great, rather then show it, because it wasn't being shown and we didn't believe it anyway. Oh, and Jonas managed to memorise all of Daniel's work and all his books because he was meant to be Daniel 2.0.
Thank god for Jack's realistic reaction throughout the season. He didn't like him, didn't rate him, didn't want him. And I didn't buy the "Jack thinks you;re a good man" schtick in Fallen, or Jack's "You earned it" (earned what, btw?) when Jonas finally exited stage left.
Badly conceived, badly written, poorly acted. Jonas never stood a chance.
Other than that, yep, everything was fine. ;-)
