1. Reply to this post and ask to play, and I will pick 6 of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
campylobacter gave me these along with a few questions which hopefully I have answered here:

This one was made from that absolutely stunning photo of RDA and Amanda Tapping at Comic Con '08 I believe? From a purely elemental point of view it didn't appear completely 'posed', but it worked nicely, and the lighting is fantastic (there is not enough high contrast/front lit photography - it's something done moreso in sketching/paintings - still life and what have you 'otherwolrdly' lighting). In this sense, the use of the Vitruvian Man was merely a prefigurative of my appreciation of this certain male form. :P

Hehehe. This one comes from this batch, wherein I make icons from pics sent to me. It's sort of an in joke if you will with
quarryquest back when we were discussing fan fiction which includes Daniel having the ability to sketch rather well - of course he is an anthropologist and that would be quite a useful skill, but when we see him/Michael Shanks put pen to paper, he is rather inept at drawing basic glyphs (Lost City, possibly Absolute Power?) So that was a little snarky commentary if you will on that aspect of the character - teaming up that image with one that speaks of artistic endeavor. I tend to use it when I am posting something 'artistic' and I am probably pre-judging my wanky ability before receiving any outside opinions on my work.

From a manip from many moons ago (original here) that also inspired my fic "Blue Calm". I just adore the image of Daniel being Jack's hero and in many ways he is (no matter how far Jack can stick his head in a deep flower pot of denial), plus it also works for my Jack!whumping kink. :P

The infamous 'Irish Hair' from Dylan Moran's stand up show "Monster" because I suffer from the same phenomena with my wild red Irish tresses. He is also one of my favourite comedians and star of Black Books.

Credit for this one goes solely to
tejas for her inspiring "In The Company of Men" wherein it's Daniel(?) who imagines Stargates in place of the clocks in Dali's "Persistence of Memory". Of course I just had to create that image, and subsequent icons. The image of the Stargates themselves were taken with a crappy old webcam about 6 years ago, before I had access to a scanner or had heard of screencaps! So that's where the odd purplish-blue hues come from and I just warped them by hand over the branch and other surfaces. The event horizons are made from a pre-existing texture available in Paint Shop Pro.

One of RDA's 'Oh a behind the scenes video? gotta drop trou' situations. This was from a batch made for
rda_daily . My apology for titillating everyone for Naked RDA Week, yet not delivering the goods. :P I can't remember exactly which behind the scenes special this is, but I believe he was showing Amanda some scars on his knees?

Date: May 24th, 2010 10:44 pm (UTC)As I recall he's dropped his pants a few times in the behind the scenes stuff. I remember another with Thor and MS possibly season 8 as they were in the General's office.

Date: May 19th, 2010 06:16 pm (UTC)The Daniel/Vitruvian Man userpic is now gonna make me giggle at the fanon snark. While mingling with the Performance majors at university as I was earning my degree in Theatre Tech, I remember discussions over how impossible it was for them to write, draw or do needlework as part of acting onstage. I imagine it's the same for Shanks or Spader, whether they were sketching glyphs or handwriting. Shots where the camera focuses on what's being written are easier than long shots where the camera captures dialog AND body language AND what's being written/drawn/sewn.
FINALLY, the story behind the gorgeous drowning icon!
I LOVE "Persistence of Stargate"! Now I gotta read
RDA dropping trou mesmerizes me every time you use it.
